Two young people are nursing serious gunshot wounds at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, wounds sustained during anti-Finance Bill protests in Nakuru on July 2, 2024.
Human Rights Defenders who visited the duo in the wards reveal that one has 4 gunshot wounds on the arm while the other has a gunshot wounds on the leg.
This, even as police on Tuesday engaged the protestors in a running battle within Kenyatta Avenue and other streets within Nakuru.
What started as peaceful demonstrations turned chaotic after two hours forcing anti riot police to swing into action stoping the youthful protestors from demonstrations within Nakuru CBD.
At KFA roundabout, police used teargas to stop the protestors who had converged causing traffic snarl up on the busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
The Protestors would later use Pinkam Roundabout to make their comeback to Kenyatta Avenue.
But again the police thwarted their efforts and by 3pm, demonstrations were over within Nakuru CBD.
However, a spot check revealed that businesses were greatly affected during the over 4-hour running battle between police and the protestors.
Majority of business persons decided to shut their business due to fear of their property being vandalized.
Despite President William Ruto declining to sign into law the Finance Bill 2024, youth and the Generation Z bracket have vowed to continue protesting in various towns and cities in the country.
