Matiang’i sounds stern warning to insurance companies over road carnage

The government will not turn back in the move taken to enforce stringent measures aimed at restoring order in the public service vehicles Industry.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr.Fred Matiang’i who spoke in Nakuru on Saturday during a fund raiser in aid of constructing California SDA church in Kaptembwa estate, said that the measures are not aimed at driving investors in the PSV sector out of the industry but rather to help them maximize profits and save lives.

“We must address this once and for all. We cannot continue loosing young people on the roads” said Dr.Matiang’i.

The CS said that insurance companies will also be under close watch of his ministry adding that, companies that issue fake covers will be dealt with accordingly.

He noted that the multi agency approach by the enforcement agencies will be extra vigilant especially during and after the festive season.

To the members of the public, the CS said that they also have a role to play in ensuring that they are safe at all times.

Key among their roles is to ensure that they report all errant PSV drivers. He further called on members of the public to ensure that they pray for the nation in order for national unity to thrive.

Parents have also been called upon to ensure that they take good care of their children especially during the Christmas and New Year festivities when they are prone to irresponsible social behavior.
