NPS joins Kenya National Police DT Sacco annual delegates’ meeting 2025 and launch of strategic Plan 2025-2029

The Kenya National Police DT SACCO continues to set the standard for financial excellence and service to its members.

At this year’s Annual Delegates’ Meeting, held today, February 21, 2025 at the Serena Hotel, key milestones were highlighted, reflecting the SACCO’s commitment to growth, governance, and social responsibility.

Since its establishment in 1972 with just 690 members, the SACCO has grown to an impressive 74,000 members, demonstrating dedication, accountability, and resilience.

The Chairperson, Mr. David Mategwa, highlighted the SACCO’s strong financial growth, with a 10.3% increase in its overall asset base in 2024. He noted that deposits had grown by 9%, while revenue had risen by 12.9%, further enhancing the SACCO’s stability and trust among its members.

Mr.Mategwa also celebrated the SACCO’s recognition as the Best Managed SACCO in Kenya for the fourth consecutive year during the National Ushirika Day celebrations.

Beyond financial success, the SACCO remains committed to community development through its sponsorship programme, which supports children of bereaved members. Of the fifty-two beneficiaries assisted last year, forty-eight secured university admission.

The SACCO has also made significant infrastructure investments, including the construction of classrooms at Utumishi Primary School, infrastructure enhancements at Utumishi Boys Academy, and the establishment of a water tower and gymnasium at the National Police College, Main Campus Kiganjo.

In his address, the Director of Human Capital Development, Dr.Michael Wanderi, AIG, who represented the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr.Douglas Kanja Kirocho, commended the SACCO’s achievements and emphasised the importance of continued innovation and sound governance.

The Principal Secretary for Co-operatives & MSMEs Development, Patrick Kiburi Kilemi, delivered remarks on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary, Hon Dr. Wycliffe Oparanya, reaffirming the government’s support for SACCOs and highlighting legislative efforts to strengthen cooperatives.

Also present were the Deputy Chief Justice, Lady Justice Philomena Mwilu, the Commissioner for Co-operatives Development, Mr. David Obonyo, and the Managing Director of the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (KUSCCO), Mr. Arnold Munene.
