MP Kathambi lauds Wezesha Mama Inua Jamii terming it transformative initiative

Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has lauded the Wezesha Mama, Inua Jamii initiative.

The Lawmaker termed the initiative as key in economic transformation of society.

Speaking at Mauche Primary School on Monday when she hosted women MPs during the Wezesha Mama Inua Jamii Njoro Edition, Kathambi was categorical that the program is key in empowering and uplifting women in society.

She noted that since establishment, the initiative has continued to empower women to participate equitably in all socio-economic sectors, aligning with the broader objective of closing gender gaps and contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Kathambi used the opportunity to rally women in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMES), to leverage their associations as it is the only route towards driving Kenya’s economic transformation in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

“We are very grateful for this initiative towards empowerment of women in Society,” she stated.

The Lawmaker also told off hatemongers terming them enemies of development.

She was categorical that Njoro Constituency has made tremendous development strides due to the peace being witnessed.

“Here in Njoro and Nakuru County as a whole we are peace lovers and our focus is on development agenda,” she said.

Sentiments echoed by Nakuru County Woman Rep Liza Chelule.

In her speech, Chelule called on Nakuru residents and Kenyans as a whole to embrace peace and continue preaching same.

She noted that Kenya has no room for hate speech, adding that those spearheading politics of tribalism and division should stop and focus on building the nation towards prosperity.

“In Nakuru we made up our mind that no one will return us to the days of violence and skirmishes. We chose peace and that is what we are preaching day and night. We cannot have Development in the absence of peace,” she stated.

The event was graced by several Women MPs who vowed to continue supporting the initiative towards transformation of society.
