MP breaks protocol, invites locals to air their concerns

Bahati Member of Parliament on Monday March 25 and Tuesday March 26,2024 broke protocol inviting locals to speak.

This happened during the issuance of NG-CDF bursary cheques to Schools’ heads in various wards of Bahati Constituency.

As it is always a norm in such functions, elected leaders are given priority to address, however this was not the case.

The MP before her time to speak, stood up and directed that the microphone be handed to constituents so that they can speak out issues affecting them amidst applause from the crowd.

One after the other, the locals aired their concerns and areas that the MP should address.

As the constituents aired their concerns, the MP could be seen noting down in her notebook before she stood up at the climax of the meetings to address.

One by one, she addressed the concerns raised assuring the locals that her office is committed to delivering on the promises made during campaigns.

She even gave out her personal mobile phone number and urged the locals to keep in communication whenever there is an issue that needs address.

According to the first time serving MP in Parliament, she has chosen interactive barazas as a way of listening to the people’s concerns.

She adds that this is a way of ensuring transparency and accountability to the electorates.

“Alongside the bursary cheques issuance we held interactive Baraza sessions, providing a platform for open dialogue and addressing concerns raised by the people. I listened to every petition and made sure to respond thoughtfully to each one of them,” she stated.

Moving forward, the Lawmaker pointed out that she remains dedicated to maintaining this level of engagement and transparency, ensuring that her office continues to be a balanced and responsive institution for the betterment of Bahati constituency.
