Lions Club of Menengai President Dr.Rani Ramchandani, partners donate early Christmas to elderly and widows in Eldama Ravine

Elderly persons, widows and girls in Kimamoi, Eldama Ravine Constituency in Baringo County had a reason to smile on Wednesday December 17, 2025 when members of Rani Ramchandani Foundation, Me to You organization and Oasis for the Vulnerable Group visited them with donation of foodstuff and none food items.

The team of well wishers led by Dr. Rani Ramchandani Hsc from Rani Ramchandani Foundation who is also the current President Lions Club of Menengai, and Dr. Rose Omango from Oasis for the Vulnerable Group Organization were hosted by Nominated MCA Repha Chirchir.

The event held at ACK St Peter’s Kimamoi was a moment of joy as the elderly persons and PWDs could not hide their joy as they received the donations.

Some of the items donated included blankets, foodstuff and mobility assistive devices.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Rani Ramchandani Hsc thanked all those who had partnered in making the day successful.

She added that this is just one of the numerous activities they do as a team in spreading love and ensuring shared smiles in society.

“We made a request to visit the elderly of this area, and our host MCA Repha agreed and that is why we are here just to spread love to the elderly through little donation for Christmas,” she said.

John Ngugi from Team Rani Ramchandani Foundation in an interview with this writer revealed that 50 elderly benfited from the blankets donation as well as food and none food items.

According to John, the gesture is a reminder of the reason for the season- spreading love to everyone in society.

“This is just a reminder to all of us that we need to show and share love to all. Let us not forget about the elderly in society,” he said.

During the event, Dr. Rose Omango who represented Me to You organization that advocates for menstrual hygiene management, also had a mentorship session with girls from the area on matters menstrual hygiene.

The girls who were taken through the session also received donation of sanitary pads from the team.

Area Chief Julius Keter and resident Vincent Changwech who welcomed guests, termed the gesture as key especially during this festive season.

They lauded the guests for showing such acts of generosity to the elderly persons in society.

Nominated MCA Hon Repha Chirchir on her part was categorical that the elderly for many years seem to be on the periphery of the society, with some having been neglected.

She lauded the team for showing love to the elderly through the donation.

“We are in the festive season and whatever Team Rani and other partners have done is a great gesture and respect to our elderly persons,” she said.

MCA Repha also used the moment to wish Kenyans Merry Christmas.

She called for strict observance of traffic rules and regulations during this festive season inorder to avert accidents on the roads.

“I want to wishes Kenyans a Merry Christmas. Let’s us spread the love this season and also be safe on our roads,” she stated.
