She celebrated their achievement as a milestone and applauded the commitment of Principals, Instructors, and support staff for their role in nurturing skilled professionals.
According to Kihika, the lot will contribute significantly to the county and national economy expressing pride in the strides made in vocational education and the expansion of VTCs across the county.
“My administration’s commitment to transforming VTCs, enhancing infrastructure, and equipping facilities to provide quality training remains,” she stated.

In addition, seven new VTCs were operationalized, bringing the total to 40 across the county, including 10 Centers of Excellence, which further underscore the county’s dedication to vocational education.
Governor Kihika emphasized the adoption of Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), which aligns with industry standards, and partnerships with local businesses for hands-on training.
“Collaborations with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) ensure that graduates meet high competency standards, with certificates that enhance their job market credibility,” she stated.
Kihika also used the moment to share success stories of VTC graduates like Charles Mwangi, now an ICT entrepreneur, and Ann Mumbi, an Electrical Installation graduate who secured a job in Qatar.
Governor Kihika at the same time extended her gratitude to partners such as Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), International Labour Organization (ILO), Forum CIV, and the KCB Foundation, who have supported training and upskilling.
