Former Secretary General Kenya Civil Servants Union Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity has weighed in on the ongoing debate of impeachment against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Dr. Kinity notes that the impeachment of Gachagua has nothing to do with issues affecting Kenyans.
In a press statement, Dr.Kinity was categorical that the impeachment of Gachagua will not in anyway benefit Kenyans that are currently overburdened with tax.
According to him, Gachagua is not the problem that is facing Kenyans but rather the whole Kenya Kwanza Administration led by President William Ruto is.
“Impeachment of Gachagua will only solve the problem between Ruto and Gachagua, but the problems of Kenyans will still remain,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the former Unionist has refuted claims that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has a hand in the ongoing impeachment motion against DP Gachagua.
According to Dr.Kinity, Raila has nothing to do with the impeachment as the wrangles between President Ruto and his DP Gachagua began long time ago before even Raila joined Government.
He added that Raila’s association with Ruto is only for seeking support for the AU position.
“Raila Odinga has nothing to do with the impeachment of Gachagua. He is only seeking Ruto’s support for the AU,” he stated.
Dr. Kinity is of the opinion that DP Gachagua’s powers were neutralized by Mudavadi coming into picture.
On the claims of abuse of office by DP Gachagua, Dr. Kinity pointed out that the whole Kenya Kwanza Administration should be re-looked at.
According to him, corruption is the biggest challenge facing the administration and that is what should be addressed rather than focusing on impeachment of Gachagua.
He however was quick to point out that Gachagua can only be saved from impeachment by President William Ruto.
“Corruption is the biggest issue and that is why Gachagua is being impeached because he has been speaking the truth and refusing to be part of the bad deals,” stated Dr. Kinity.
The former Unionist has called on youthful MPs in Parliament not to allow to be used to rubber-stamp detrimental Executive decisions.
According to him, Parliament should be neutral with no interference from Executive arm of government.
He at the same time urged Kenyans to ensure they do not relent in the fight towards a better society free from corruption and other ills.
