The Kenya Kwanza administration recognizes coffee as one of the priority value chains that can be used to spur growth and improve the livelihoods.
Co-operatives Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui says coffee is key in the value chains.
According to the CS, Coffee Sector has continued to benefit over 800,000 farmers who depend on it in at least 33 coffee growing regions and another 5 million indirect beneficiaries.
He added that the reforms in the sector will go a long way in ensuring economic growth.
The CS was speaking when he presided over the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund (CCARF) sensitization program in Bahati, Nakuru County.
Chelugui was accompanied by Principal Secretary for the State Department of Cooperatives Patrick Kilemi, New KPCU chairman Daniel K Kiprotich Chemno and Managing Director Timothy Mirugi and Commissioner of Cooperatives David Obonyo.
