The County Government of Nakuru has reiterated its commitment to supporting learners in various vocational training centres across the county.
This was pronounced as County Executive for Education Zipporah Ngugi, Chief Officer Rosemary Kimani, and Director for Vocational Training David Mwangi, as well as Martin Gicinga from the Governor’s office, visited Nakuru Vocational Training Centre on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
The guests interacted with the over 400 students currently enrolled and pursuing various courses among them fashion design, plumbing, ICT, motor vehicle maintenance, catering, and masonry, among others.
CECM Ngugi encouraged the students to apply for county bursaries.
She added that the County Government is committed in ensuring that financial barriers do not limit their access to these opportunities.
“Under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika, students attending Nakuru County VTCs only pay for their welfare, with all tuition and learning materials fully covered by the County Government. Each learner benefits from a Kshs 30,000 annual capitation,” she stated.
During the visit, the team also inspected the construction of a new resource centre, which will further enhance the institutionâs learning environment.
The CECM assured the learners that Governor Kihika’s Administration remains committed to equipping the youth with skills for a brighter and more secure future.
Nakuru County Vocational Training Centre’s Principal Mr. Solomon Muli lauded the County Government for its continued support to the Institution.
