Residents of Manyani estate in Nakuru’s Kivumbini Ward are having sleepless nights following the emergence of a gang of youth who are now attacking residents at knife-point and robbing them of their valuables among them phones as well as money.
In a span of one week a middle aged man was attacked while headed home, stabbed and died while undergoing treatment at a Nakuru Hospital.
Two other locals are also nursing wounds after they were attacked by the gang and stabbed.
The gang operates on motorbikes and once they are through with their target mission, they take off at high speed.
The rising insecurity in the area, prompted a security meeting where residents raised their concerns.
The meeting that was attended by Assistant County Commissioner Nakuru East Municipality Bernard Nicholas, area OCS, chiefs and Nyumba kumi cluster members saw the ACC disband the Nyumba kumi cluster and ordred for a fresh election.
“I hereby issue an order that the area Nyumba Kumi cluster has been disbanded and the area chief should spearhead the election for the new cluster” ordered the ACC.
This even as locals in the area vowed to collaborate in enhancing secuirty of the area.
Speaking on the issue in a different forum, Nakuru County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo said the security team has taken up the matter and that soon the locals will feel total security.
He also challenged Motorbike Bodaboda operators to ensure they know each member in their respective stages, especially after it emerged that some of the criminal gangs are using Motorbikes to execute their mission.
Mwanzo said the security team will not tolerate a few individuals to cause unrest in Nakuru Estates.
“We have taken up this matter seriously even if it means reshuffling our team on the ground we shall” he said.
