Nakuru-based Reproductive Health Champion Mr. Martin Lunalo has called on government to ensure better pay for Community Health Promoters(CHPs).
Formerly known as Community Health Volunteers, Mr. Lunalo notes that the lot plays key role in society on health matters and should not be neglected when it comes to pay.
Lunalo who once served as a Community Health Volunteer in Nakuru, pointed out that the work done by CHPs cannot be taken for grunted.
Speaking at Kamukunji Grounds on Friday December 6, 2024 during Nakuru CHPs’ Selfcare/ Fun Day, Lunalo who is also the Executive Director Reproductive Health Champions Organization (RHCO) revealed that he will continue to push through policy frameworks to ensure CHPs’ welfare taken care of.
“CHPs are key persons and that is why we are saying they need to have money in their pockets. When the government is budgeting, CHPs should be considered too,” stated Lunalo.
Besides better pay, Lunalo also called on government to ensure all CHPs have protective gear.
The Community Health Promoters’ Fun Day at Kamukunji Grounds was sponsored KYMDO AFRICA- an Organization founded by MCA Fadhili Msuri of Biashara.
Other elected leaders Neto Sakwa( MCA Kivumbini) and David Muraya(MCA Flamingo) also supported with refreshments with Martin Lunalo also stepping in.
