Parents in Nakuru County and the nation at large have been urged to remain vigilant and ensure their children do not get involved in harmful habits during the December Festivity.
Bishop Anthony Mambo of the Anglican Church of Kenya Nakuru Diocese says there is a tendency of parents neglecting their noble role of good parenting during the holidays.
The clergy called on parents to be there for their children offering guidance for their safety during this time that they are home, adding that this will ensure safety.
With the development of technology, Bishop Mambo called on parents to ensure the whereabouts of their children and their social circles.
The clergy was speaking at Rohi Girls High school in Lanet, Nakuru during the closure of a one week-camp program for over 1000 ACK youth brigade drawn within Nakuru Diocese.
He condemned the habit where parents take their children to their grandparents during holidays as this will derail the discipline instilled in them.
“They have been in school but now they are headed for holidays, and this is the time that the parents should be more vigilant to ensure the safety of their children,” he stated.
During the ACK youth Camp, they were taken through various disciplines, among them integrity, defending their faith, team building, appreciating each other and networking.
Bishop Mambo added that the church will have a follow-up on the well-being of the youth through their brigade teachers in the church to ensure that they adhere to the teachings.
Members of the ACK youth brigade who attended the camp lauded the Church’s leadership for organizing such.
They vowed to share the knowledge gained with their peers towards a better society where integrity remains the threshold for all.
