Nakuru lady reveals why she adopted a father at Alms House for the elderly

A Nakuru woman has revealed why she chose to adopt a senior citizen at Nakuru Alms House as her father.

In an interview with this writer, Ms Rebecca Mesa stated that she had a great bond with her biological father.
So strong was the bond that when her dad passed on some two years ago, she felt a gap in her life.
Even though she had completed her Masters University studies, she says the death of her dad left a void in her life.
After completing her Certified purchasing and supplies professional of Kenya(CPSP-K)course,she thought of how her biological dad who was her mentor n friend would miss to witness her graduation.
She made up her mind to do the ceremony at Nakuru Alms House for the elderly.
This was prompted by the fact that she had visited the facility before through charity works organized by the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Community Focus Outreach charity group
She adds that her late dad also loved charity work which she now emulates.
“I love charity work but I think I inherited from my dad who also loved charity work during his lifetime,” she stated.

In company of other 15 members, they visited the Alms House for the elderly where she celebrated her award together with the elderly persons.

Ms Rebecca reveals that it is during the June event that she learnt about elderly Simon Ndambuki who is the eldest at the facility.

The sad story of Ndambuki who lost all his family members in the Solai Dam tragedy touched Ms Rebecca who made a decision to adopt him as her father.

“I was touched by the story of Mzee Ndambuki and I felt it that I don’t have a dad, why can’t I adopt him as my dad,” she stated.

According to Ms Rebecca, since the adoption, she has continued to treat him as her dad with frequent communication.

She also makes a visit to the facility to ensure everything is okay.

The mother of two beautiful girls calls on the society to embrace parents and show them true love.

“After you lose a parent is when you realize the importance of having parents. I know and understand better. If you have your mother or dad alive please take good care of them,” she advices.
On his part elderly Simon Ndambuki is grateful for having Ms Rebecca as a caring daughter.
