Nakuru East DCIO says investigations on to unravel truth on Brian Odhiambo’s disappearance

DCIO Nakuru East Samuel Ngeiywa told Nakuru Court that at the moment he does not know the whereabout of Brian Odhiambo.

He was however quick to point out that he has commenced investigations into abduction and suspected murder of Brian Odhiambo.
The Nakuru East detective Boss told court that this is in line with a report made at Bondeni Police Station concerning missing person Brian.
The officer who is first respondent in the petition filed by IMLU seeking justice for Brian, told the court that on January 20, he recorded statements of witnesses in the case.
Upon analysing all the evidence from the 6 witnesses, it pointed at KWS.
“Your honor, I analysed all the evidence from the 6 witnesses and it pointed at KWS officers from Lake Nakuru National Park whom the witnesses said were with Brian at around 10am on January 18, 2025,” the DCIO Nakuru East told the court.
The DCIO further told the court that on January 21, 2025, a communication of missing Brian Odhiambo was circulated by OCS Bondeni to all stations, Posts and Patrol Bases within Kenya.
The court heard that to date police have not received any information on the whereabout of Brian Odhiambo.
The DCIO Nakuru East also informed the Court that on the same date January 21, 2025, he wrote two letters.
According to him, the first letter was addressed to Safaricom Ltd to provide the police with call data of mobile number for Brian
The second letter was addressed to Airtel Mobile Ltd to provide the police with call data of mobile number for Brian.
The court heard that when the location of the two mobile numbers were traced technologically, they were found to have been switched off at 1.51pm at Statehouse Nakuru and 4.07pm at Karunga in Gilgil respectively on January 18.
The DCIO further told court that on January 22, 2025 police recorded statements of 6 officers from Lake Nakuru National Park who were Rangers.
That Brian Odhiambo escaped from custody after arrest as the other officers had left him in the vehicle together with driver identified as Ranger Abdi Ali.
The DCIO revealed that on January 23, he arrested the 6 officers for the offense of abduction to murder.
The 6 were however released on the same day at 6.30pm pending completion of investigations.
The Court heard that on January 26, the DCIO Nakuru East wrote another letter to Safaricom Ltd requesting a call data for the 6 KWS officers.
Though no reply has been received from Safaricom, the DCIO told court that a follow up is on.
Identification parade for the officers carried out did not bear fruit.
During Thursday Court session David Oyugi the in charge Lake Nakuru National Park was also cross examined.
The court will give further direction in the matter on February 6.
