Nakuru County will benefit from 10,000 units of Affordable Housing Project by National Government.
This was as revealed on Sunday as Nakuru County Deputy Governor David Kones and County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara led Mashujaa Day celebrations at Keringet Estate Comprehensive Primary School in Keringet Ward.
Under this year’s theme “Affordable Housing” Deputy Governor Kones who represented Governor Susan Kihika at the event, highlighted the county’s commitment to providing affordable housing for its residents.
He revealed that in line with the national government’s affordable housing agenda, Nakuru County will benefit with 10,000 housing units with 605 units in the Bondeni Affordable Housing Project, already completed and handed over to new owners.
Additional phases are underway in Bahati and Molo (Elburgon), with plans to build 2,000 units in Naivasha and 3,000 units in Nakuru City.
This initiative aims to expand access to quality, affordable housing for low-income residents.
Beyond the housing units, the project has also stimulated the local construction industry, particularly the Jua Kali sector, consequently leading to increased employment opportunities for youth and the development of a more competitive construction market.
On his part County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara urged Nakuru residents to support Government’s development agenda.
He at the same called on residents of Nakuru in all the 11 Sub-counties to ensure they maintain peace.
Also present during the event were Kuresoi South MP Joseph Tonui, County Executive for Agriculture Leonard Bor, Chief Officers Charles Koech (Public Service) John Koech, (Tourism) Keringet ward MCA William Mutai, and the National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs)
