Murkomen: We’ll work closely with MPs on improving key infrastructure

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration will work closely with National Assembly in operationalizing key infrastructure projects.

These are projects meant to bring services closer to the people.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured of the same.

“We are collaborating with Members of the National Assembly through NG-CDF to expand infrastructure that enables government services to be brought closer to the people,” he stated.

He was speaking during the commissioning of the newly constructed Kamtonga Police Station, fully funded through Mwatate NG-CDF.

The station will enhance security in the area and play a key role in curbing mining-related conflicts, gender-based violence, gang violence, and other long-standing security challenges in the area.

The CS added that they are working at improving welfare of police officers.

“We are also committed to improving the welfare of our police officers through the construction of modern housing units under the Affordable Housing Programme, the acquisition of modern equipment, the adoption of technology in policing, mental health awareness campaigns, and comprehensive human resource reforms,” he said.

The event was attended by Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime, Deputy Governor Christine Kilalo, MPs Shake Mbogho (Mwatate), John Bwire (Taveta) and Danson Mwashako (Wundayi).

The CS I was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat (KPS) and Gilbert Masengeli (APS), regional and county security chiefs.
