Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has slammed former Environment Cabinet Secretary Tobiko and former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya for causing suffering to constituents through forceful evictions in parts of Eastern Mau.
Kathambi who spoke on Friday December 6, 2024 during a Thanksgiving ceremony at Kapsinendet, Mariashoni following the lifting of caveat on Eastern Mau lands, lauded President William Ruto for stepping in to ensure justice for constituents who had been evicted in inhumane way.
“Tobiko and Natembeya caused a lot of suffering to my people, but we thank God that our President has intervened in the whole issue,” she stated.
Kathambi used the moment to urge constituents to support President Ruto’s administration towards development agenda.
She lauded President Ruto for his resolve to ensure that the residents of these areas acquire land ownership rights so as to develop themselves like other Kenyans.
Sentiments echoed by Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot.
“I’m pleased that the people of Kapsinendet, Marishoni ward, Nakuru County, are inching closer to securing title deeds and eventually create value for their land,” he stated.
Senator Cheruiyot pointed out that the legal ownership of their valued assets will enable them to fully optimise the potential the resource wields in terms of farming and other valuable forms of production.
He at the same time urged the Ministry of land , the local administration , the village elders and the local appointed land committees to diligently undertake a transparent process that will see justice and equity served.
“With the imminent issuance of title deeds, I’m optimistic development in the entire area and its surroundings will roar back to life as settlers exploit the agricultural potential to create wealth and ensure food security,” he stated.
The ceremony was also attended by David Kones ( Deputy Gov.
