A total of 29 members of Friends of Vision will benefit from phase 2 of their project on land purchase and housing.
The 29 are a second lot of the group that will benefit from a 2-acre piece of land in Barut’s Kilelwet village near Soar Kenya Academy in Nakuru West Sub county at a cost of 7.7 million shillings.
The Project is aimed at empowering women and youth to own parcels of land through savings and loan to the Friends of Vision Group.
A total of 113 members are in the group and committed to continue developing.

The official launch of the Phase 2 was presided over by Bishop Charles Ng’ang’a of Christian Foundation Fellowship Church Nakuru.
Speaking during the event, the Bishop congratulated the team for the gesture of uniting in diversity to purchase the land.

He lauded the fact that the members are from different communities bringing out the great picture of the nation.
“We are grateful for this group of members who made up their mind to unite and buy this parcel of land. This is the way to go. If we are united in groups we can achieve more as Kenyans,” he stated.

The clergy also urged the youth to ensure they settle down and purchase land for their own development.
While noting that Kenyans are facing harsh economic times, the clergy was quick to point out that there is still hope if Kenyans can unite through such groups for a purpose and avert tribalism.
He also used the opportunity to call on Kenyans to remain vigilant and avert being victims of scams especially with land buying companies.
Sentiments echoed by Imam Yakub who urged Kenyans to be honest and continue to uphold virtues that matter in life.
According to Chairman Friends of Vision Mr. Hoseah Ojwang, the group started in 2018 with vision to have all members get settled.
He revealed that, they came together after realizing the challenges that Cancer as a disease can cause to a family especially those living in rentals and with the help of Cancer Victims and Affected Families(CAVAF KENYA) they were able to start though from humble beginnings.
“Personally my dad was diagnosed with cancer and we also met other people going through numerous challenges occasioned by cancer and that is why we came up with this group to try and see how we can get to buy land and settle,” he stated.
With six years since establishment, Friends of Vision have been able to buy a total 5 acres of land.
According to Hoseah, the first phase was in 2021 which is already an estate and phase 3 might be launched next year.
They are supported through KCB loan which they pay back and acquire a property.
Hoseah challenged young people to remain focused adding that it calls for honesty.
James Yegon- a resident and Director Soar Kenya Academy welcomed the guests adding that as a community they will continue to work closely with like-minded to make the community better.
Linet Nyamisa is a member and a beneficiary of the phase 2 project.
She has already constructed a two bedroom house on her plot.
“I am grateful that this welfare group has continued to assist us. I now have a house,” she stated.
Sentiments echoed by Mr. Fred Opondo who joined the group 2 years ago.
