HEART Africa Organization through partnership with well-wishers from within and without Kenya has continued to impact positively the lives of teenage Girls at grassroot
The organization that runs various programs on health and education among others has been instrumental in hygiene for teenage girls and even during their menstrual cycle.

This, through the free sanitary packs donations to various schools.
HEART Africa has for the last 14 years been working closely with Rotary club of Walworth,Steve and Patricia Werner.
The partnership has seen over 2000 girls receive a one-year package of sanitary towel each.
Mr. James Yegon- the founder of Soar Kenya Academy in Barut and philanthropist together with Sally Kamau from HEART Africa Organization.

While lauding the donors, Yegon was categorical that the program has really elevated the performance of girls in schools as they no longer miss schools during menstrual cycle.
“This program has really improved performance of the girls by keeping them in school,” he stated.
According to statistics, many girls miss schools four days a month, which undermine their performance.
Yegon who addressed press during a distribution exercise at Soar Kenya Academy in Barut Nakuru West on February 18, 2025, revealed that they have been working with four distribution centres namely; Hopewell High school, Soar Kenya Academy, Rotary club of Nakuru and Rotary club of the Great Rift valley where distribution takes place.
“A few days ago we received over 1600 packages of sanitary towels and panties which will be distributed in the four distribution centres. On Wednesday we will travel to Naishi, Njoro sub county which falls under Soar Kenya Academy distribution centre where we hope to distribute sanitary towels and panties and train over 150 girls,” he said.
Some of the donors whom Yegon is grateful for their support towards the program include Steve Werner, Pat Werner, Don Vandello Ply, members of the Rotary club of Walworth and all well-wishers.
He appealed to all who would like to donate towards this noble program to Kindly reach out to Steve on how to channel donation.
On her part Sally reiterated the importance of the program in addressing the gap that has been there when it comes to access of sanitary pads.
According to her, assessment of the program has revealed tremendous improvement of girls in schools as the donation keeps them in school.
“We have seen our girls improve in their studies as they can fully complete with their make counterparts on daily basis without missing school,” she said.
According to her, HEART Africa Organization is carrying out assessment on the ‘Freedom for Girls’ Project.
The assessment aims to improve the project in future.
“Once we are through with the assessment, we look forward to using the findings to improve and seal gaps if any towards implementation of the program,” she stated.
Sally also used the opportunity to rally on all well-wishers to join hands in the noble program.
She added that in doing so, then the future of girl child is secured.
“We just want to ensure that we secure a brighter future for our girls and remove the stigma around menstrual cycle,” she said.
Already in Barut, beneficiaries of the project are visible.
For instance, Ms Monica Anyango is an alumni of Soar Kenya Academy.
She is one of the beneficiaries of the program ‘Freedom for Girls’.

In an interview, Monica admits that girls in rural areas experience challenges in accessing sanitary pads, a situation that forces many to miss school during their menstrual cycle.
She is however grateful that for her case, the Project addressed the gap leading to her excellent performance.
Monica is now a backup volunteer teacher at Soar Kenya as a way of giving back to society in a school that she terms a home.
“As a beneficiary of the project, I can state that indeed girls face numerous challenges that act as hindrance to their studies. We are however grateful that this program came in hand to assist us,” she said.
Sentiments echoed by Shanice- a great 9 student at Soar Kenya Academy.
To her, the Program has continued to instill confidence in girls.
