Early Christmas gift for Kiamaina widow as J127 Group hands her a newly constructed house

As Christians look forward to celebrate this year’s Christmas on December 25, for one widow from Ngashura village in Kiamaina Ward of Nakuru County it is Christmas come early as well wishers stepped in to construct a house for her family.

Jecinta Wangari and her 9 children lived in a humble structure with her 7 children but now she has a modern new 2 bedroom house.

The new house was constructed by members of a group dubbed J 127 Kenya Chapter in support of Pastor Tony Wainaina and Friends from Dallas, USA.

The group that is guided by Biblical Verse James 1:27, that true religion is that which takes care of the widows and orphans in their distress.

Through the dedicated members, Wangari will now celebrate this Christmas in a new magnificent house.

In addition, new toilets have also been constructed for her.

On Wednesday December 18, 2024, the members led by Bishop Superintendent Wilson Kiarie of Evangelical Communal Churches Kenya, dedicated the house ready for habitation.

Speaking during the ceremony, Bishop Kiarie lauded J127 members for the gesture.

While noting that majority of widows and orphans are going through a lot of distress in community, the clergy reiterated the need for collaboration towards assisting them.
“We have many people who are able to assist the needy in this country and that is why we are making this appeal to ensure that they come on board,” stated the Bishop.
Bishop Wilson who is also the chair of the Group in Kenya expressed optimism that many will join J127 in this initiative towards transforming villages and communities, adding that there should be unity of purpose.
According to the clergy, this is the 5th house to be constructed by J127 members.
He revealed that they have been able to construct a similar house for widows in Echararia, Mbaruk, Muthaita Jogoo, and  Mirera in Naivasha.

On her part, Jecinta Wangari lauded the support she has received from J127 Group.

She admitted that it has not been easy raising her children on her own especially with the harsh economic times in the country.
“I am very grateful for what the group has done to me. May God bless all the members,” she stated.
Ms Rebecca Wanjiru Kimotho from J127 reveals that the group started 2 weeks ago as a prayer support group.
The group would then support some widows and also pay school fees for their children.
Currently, the group at Kiamaina with a 56 membership is involved in table banking as well as small businesses to sustain them.
The empowerment activities include bead works, basket making, poultry and livestock keeping.
She appealed to well-wishers to come on board and support the widows in the groups at Maili Sita, Njoro, and Mbaruk.
“We have had challenges of finances but as committed members we said we will not quit, but keep pressing on,” she stated.
Sentiments echoed by Agnes Mwangi who is the Secretary of J127 Kiamaina Group.
She pointed out that there is need for medical cover to help members who are affected by various illnesses.
Ms Mwangi also called for the need to have a feeding program as well as supply of uniforms.
“Some of our members are not in good health and therefore they need more support,” she said.
She also made a call to well-wishers with food, finances and even clothes and beddings to come out and donate especially through the J127 Group.
The group looks forward to reaching out to more widows and orphans within and without Nakuru.
