DBK opens branch in Nakuru

The new Development Bank of Kenya Nakuru Branch on Friday September 19, 2025 opened it’s doors to members of the public.

The opening of the Banking Institution is a clear indicator that Nakuru County under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika is solidifying its position as a prime investment destination through creation of conducive environment for business growth.

The official opening ceremony was graced by Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones.

This marks the third location for the bank after Nairobi and Mombasa.

The expansion underscores Nakuru’s growing significance as a regional hub for commerce, investment, and innovation.

Speaking during the event, DG Kones welcomed DBK’s arrival, highlighting its timely entry as a vital complement to the county’s development agenda.

“This partnership is essential in building resilience among our entrepreneurs, promoting value addition in agriculture, supporting industrial growth, and ultimately creating employment opportunities for our people,” he stated.

DBK CEO, Johnson Kiniti, on his part emphasized Nakuru’s strategic importance within Kenya’s “financial corridor” that stretches from Mombasa to Kisumu.

He affirmed the bank’s commitment to transforming potential into tangible growth by providing much needed capital to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and supporting agricultural value chains.

Kiniti also noted that the bank will collaborate with the Nakuru County Government to identify other priority areas for capital injection, effectively addressing the county’s financial needs.

The event was also graced by DBK Board of Directors led by Chairman Michael Nyachae and County Director for Trade John Macharia, among other key stakeholders.
