Dandelion Africa prides in contributing to 96% transition rate for girls as World marks Day of Girl Child

Dandelion Africa NGO prides in having contributed to the high numbers of girls transitioning to High schools.

Even as the World celebrates International Day of the Girl Child 2024, Dandelion Africa notes that Girls can do better if supported through Empowerment.

The Organization that has been working with communities at grassroot level, points out that girl child has been facing a lot of challenges in rural areas.

But with proper interventions, girls are now able to attend school and compete with their male counterparts.

According to statistics, Dandelion Africa NGO has contributed greatly towards retaining girls in schools.

“In 2014, only 45% of girls in our communities were transitioning to higher levels of education. In 2023, thanks to Dandelion Africa’s relentless efforts and the support of our communities, there was a 96% transition rate for girls,” the Organization stated.

The Organization notes that this incredible progress is a testament to the power of investing in girls’ education, breaking down barriers, and creating safe spaces for learning.

It should be noted that Dandelion Africa has been engaging girls through Girls for Leaders, Boys for Change Program.

“Through our Girls for Leaders, Boys for Change program, we’ve provided mentorship, health education, life skills, and academic support to empower girls to reach their full potential,” the Organization said in a press release.

Dandelion Africa Executive Director Wendo Aszed called for concerted effort in ensuring girls’ rights are protected.

“Together, we can achieve even more. Let’s continue to stand up for girls’ rights, ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to thrive and lead,” she stated.
