The 7th edition of the Scribes End of Year Party lit up the festive season last evening at the elegant LB Lounge in Kimuka, Ngong, Kajiado County. Journalists and communication professionals gathered for an unforgettable celebration of achievements, camaraderie, and festive cheer.
The night was a dazzling mix of reflections on a year well-spent, the tantalizing flavors of nyama choma, and pulsating music that kept the dance floor alive.
The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Suleiman Mbatiah as The Scribe of the Year 2024. The Nakuru-based journalist was celebrated for his exceptional resilience and groundbreaking innovations in digital journalism, carving a remarkable niche in the ever-evolving media landscape.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Suleiman dedicated the prestigious award to mass media practitioners who, despite losing their jobs at one point, found the courage to bounce back stronger with innovative ideas. He urged journalists to embrace new and digital media, emphasizing its importance in the fast-paced and constantly shifting media environment.
Scribes Kenya President Roncliffe Odit also took the stage to applaud the courage and creativity of journalists venturing into digital spaces. He commended their determination to pursue growth and adapt to the demands of a modern audience.
The air was electric with festive cheer as journalists, free from the year’s pressures, danced with abandon, mingled, and indulged in the sumptuous feast. The bash was more than just a party—it was a well-deserved moment to celebrate victories and recharge for the year ahead.
The star-studded event attracted media luminaries and communication stalwarts, including Kameme TV’s Agnes Nonsizi, Radio guru Billy Miya, BBC radio presenters Phylis Mwatee and Sarafina Robi, K24’s Busara Naaman, Patrick Kinyua of Nakuru TV, Kioko wa Kivandi of Egerton Radio, and Zakheem Rajan, a senior communications officer from the Judiciary.
As the year winds down, the scribes proved that hard work deserves a moment of joy and festivity. With laughter, music, and friendship in the air, the evening was a testament to the enduring spirit of journalists who shape narratives, inform, and inspire.
