Women Reps appeal for more funds to help fight COVID-19,floods

County women representatives are appealing for more allocation of more emergency funds to allow them help in the fight against Corona virus and floods.

Nakuru County women representative Liza Chelule said that the county women leaders were critical players who could help the government in tackling the many calamities that are rocking the country currently.

Speaking when she launched the donation of food stuffs, masks, water tanks and hand washing soap to vulnerable families,Chelule said that the Sh 24 million which was given to 47 counties was to little to satisfy the needs of the many needy people.

He cited an example of Nakuru county which received Sh 500,000 to be shared among the eleven sub-counties saying that it was unable to make a visible impact on the ground.

“We want to ask the national government to consider giving women representatives more money under the emergency fund so that they can help in this war,” she said.

At the same time Chelule called on Kenyans to be more responsible and help the government fight COVID-19 saying that corona virus was real and not a joke.

She noted that the guidelines being issued by the government would only help fight corona virus if Kenyans heed to them and take them seriously.
