Why Nakuru female MCAs are not a happy lot

Female MCAs in the county assembly of Nakuru have condemned the move by the assembly to impeach Roads and infrastructure CEC Engineer Lucy Kariuki saying that there has been a trend to victimize women serving under Governor Lee Kinyanjui regime.

Speaking on Monday morning led by Nominated MCA Rose Njoroge from Turi Molo the leaders said that their male counterparts have been aiming at the strong ladies in Kinyanjui’s administration.

Njoroge who was earlier in 2018 de-whipped from the sports committee has condemned the motion of impeaching engineer Lucy saying that the trend should come to an end or else the county will end up losing majority of the women at the hands of their male fellows.

“Women leaders in this county have become victims of intimidation from our male counterparts and we will not allow that” said MCA Rose.

Her sentiments echoed by Zeitun Ibrahim nominated MCA representing the Muslim community who was also de-whipped from the Justice and legal affairs committee under unclear terms.

Zeitun says having an engineer running the roads and infrastructure docket is the most proud thing Nakuru residents have and impeaching her will be the worst hit on women in the county.

“We should be proud of women leadership in this country but when we end up impeaching them then we are loosing out” said MCA Zeitun.

The women MCAs have said that the war on women started with the successful impeachment of Halima Gababa CEC for Youths, Gender, Sports and CultureGababa was thrown out of the office after a successful impeachment motion that accused her of incompetence and poor running of funds in the docket.
