Simon Wanyoike Wanango has been sworn in as member of the County Assembly of Nakuru for the Lakeview Ward.
Wanango has made a comeback to the County assembly of Nakuru in the by-election held on December 16th 2020 following the death of MCA Karanja Mburu in a road accident in April.
The race had attracted 14 candidates among them George Mathu (Jubilee), Simon Wanyoike (New Young Democrats), Betty Kamau (DP) and Daniel Chege (independent).
Others Reuben Gitau (PPK), Pius Onyangore (independent), Elizabeth Wanjiru (RBK), David Njau (FAP) and Viginia Wairimu (PNU), among others.
But as fate would have it, Wanango beat them all making a comeback to the County assembly after being out for 3 years.
Speaking after being sworn in, MCA Wanango said that his noble task is to ensure development for the people of Lakeview Ward whom he commended for giving him another chance.
“I am grateful to my people of Lakeview Ward for giving me this chance and mine is now to deliver service as we head to 2022” said Wanango.
Nakuru County assembly speaker Joel Maina Kairu who led the MCAs in welcoming Wanango to the House called on him to use the vast experience he has to better the lives of the people of Lakeview Ward.
He said MCA Wanango joins the House at a crucial time when matters of supplementary budget are being debated hence an opportunity for him to ensure the people of Lakeview Ward benefit.
“I welcome you to the house and with the vast experience you have no doubt you will deliver for the people of Naivasha” said Speaker Kairu.
His colleagues at the assembly in their welcoming remarks terming him as a servant leader whom the people of Lakeview had trust in.
Naivasha East MCA Stanley Karanja who was elected on Jubilee Party ticket stating Wanango’s win was a clear communication of parties’ democracy.
“It was not easy to defeat Jubilee but this is a clear indication that we have democracy in this county” he said.
Sentiments echoed by MCAs Douglas Ayabei (Mariashoni), Irene Chebichii(Soin), Eddy Kiragu(Flamingo) and Jane Ngugi(Gilgil) among others.
The MCAs stated that the people of Lakeview Ward have a reason to smile in the new leadership.
Majority Leader Moses Ndung’u on his part lauded Wanango, a team leader from his past experience with him.
He called on MCAs to learn one or two virtues from MCA Wanango who is also a season member.
“As a MCAs we have a lesson to learn from MCA Wanango whom the people of Lakeview Ward have decided to give another chance after being out for 3 years” said the Majority leader.
