A Nakuru Member of County Assembly has accused Governor Lee Kinyanjui of causing confusion among residents by running a one man show and playing public relations over COVID-19 preparedness.
Lake View Ward MCA Karanja Mburu said that Governor Kinyanjui has failed to involve all concerned parties in the county preparedness towards combating a possible spread of the corona virus.
The law maker said that conflicting statements from the county government were causing confusion among residents.
He challenged Kinyanjui to involve county Chief officers who are accounting officers to ministries in the committee coordinating the COVID-19 preparedness.
He cited the lack of sanitizers and other essential protective gear needed by medical personnel in prevention of the virus as well as handling those suspected to be having the virus.
Karanja accused Kinyanjui of playing cheap politics with peoples lives by refusing to order closure of all bars with the excuse of revenue shortages.
“The issue of revenue shortage is a result of his own incompetence and he should stop playing politics with people’s lives,” said Mburu.
The MCA wondered why the Governor has failed to involve MCA’s in the committee coordinating the corona virus preparedness saying that the ward leaders were critical and should be fully involved.
At the same time Mburu called on Governor Lee to allow County workers to operate from home as a a means of reducing human interaction within offices.
He said that only workers within critical and essential departments like health and emergency should be allowed to report to work.
