Education Cabinet Secretary Prof.George Magoha has urged parents to take serious their parenting role.
Speaking on Wednesday when he officially released the 2019 KCSE examination results, the CS cited unfortunate instances where children have committed suicide after parents being turf on them for not achieving the ‘right’ grades.
He called on parents to accept the results of their children they way they receive adding that every child is potential in one area or another.
According to the CS, parents should not just focus on the white collar jobs but rather they should encourage their children to work in the area they are capable.
“This one goes to the parents kindly play your parenting role as required and accept the results of your child. Let no one lie to you that you have to have a job and put on a tie like the one am putting on to know that you are successful” said Magoha.
Prof Magoha announced the results after meeting and briefing President Kenyatta at State House in Nairobi.According to the Education CS 125,746 candidates scored C+ and above while a total of 627 candidates scored grade A.
The top ten schools in KCSE 2019 Kenya High, Kapsabet Boys, Alliance High,Moi High School Kabarak,Alliance Girls,Maryhill Girls,Maseno School,The Nairobi School,Mangu High School-and Moi Girls School Eldoret.
Candidates can access the 2019 KCSE results via sms by sending the full index number (11digits) of the candidate followed by KCSE to 20076.
A total of 699,745 candidates sat for the exams that began on November 4 and ended on 27.
The marking was concluded by December 13.
Education CS George Magoha had earlier said that results would be released before Christmas Day.
