A section of United Opposition members in Nakuru have faulted government over Sunday incident where police lobbed teargas canisters in a Church.
The incident happened on Sunday November 30, 2025 at PCEA Kariobangi church where DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua was attending a Service and Thanksgiving ceremony for area MCA-elect.
Addressing press in Bahati, Nakuru United Opposition members led by DCP Secretary General Simon Sangale Ole Nasieku condemned the incident terming it signs of a desperate government.
Nasieku wondered why the government is so concerned about where DCP Leader attends service, adding that the trend of teargass in church is wanting.
He called on Government to allow DCP Leader and members to go on with their day to day activities without any intimidation.
“We want to tell government that we will not bow down because of intimidations. Whatever has happened in Kariobangi we condemn with the strongest terms possible,” stated Nasieku.
Sentiments echoed by DCP Nakuru Coordinator Stephen Mbuthia.
He wondered why the government so much interested in the issues of teargassing people in Church.
“What debt that Our Party leader have with the church that whenever he visits the government has to teargas. Let’s respect our places of worship,” he said.
Janet Moraa representing young people in DCP Nakuru called on government to respect the will of the people.
She stated that DCP and the United Opposition will continue to work in safeguarded the rights of the people including women and children.
