The Teachers’ Service Commission has bowed to pressure and transferred two teachers from Nakuru’s Jamhuri Primary school following complaints from Parents.
Parents through the Board of Management had complained of mismanagement of the school by the school head teacher Ms Beatrice Nyawira.
The parents a week ago held demonstrations demanding that Teachers Service Commission transfers the head teacher from the school.
They had also raised concerns over security of the pupils accusing one of the teachers for allegedly practicing devil worship within the school and trying to recruit the pupils.
Through the Board of Management Chairman Denis Okomol, the parents have vowed to ensure that no learning takes place in the school until TSC meets their demands.
And on Wednesday morning the Board of Management members in their address to the press revealed that the two teachers had been transferred paving way for learning to resume in the school.
According to BOM chair Denis Okomol, the transfer of the two teachers is key and will now allow learning to resume.
“We want to report to the public, the parents of Jamhuri Primary and the people of Nakuru that two teachers who were contaminating our school have been moved and replaced with new ones” said Okomol.
The BOM members adding that learning will now resume and that the other demands that are yet to be met will be addressed in a diplomatic way.
However, they called off the withdrawal of the children from the school as had been before in order to allow learning to go as the other issues that are yet to be met are addressed in diplomatic way.
According to Okomol, the other demands that he says will be addressed in diplomatic way as learning resumes is the return of the three teachers who had been transferred from the school as well as other administrative issues.
“We have fought a good war despite the laxity of some government officials and now one demand has been made and the two teachers have been transferred. We therefore announce that the children be back to school as from Thursday. We want to thank the officers who thought it prudent to act” said Okomol.
In a phone interview, Nakuru County TSC Director James Nkoroi confirmed the transfer of the two teachers.
He said this was done as per the parents’ demand to allow learning to resume at the school.
