Police in Olenguruone police station have launched a manhunt on two youths who stole Official police Uniforms belonging to Deputy Officer commanding Olenguruone police station at his official residence in Olenguruone town, Kuresoi south sub-county of Nakuru county.
Speaking on arrival at his house,Olenguruone town,Kuresoi south sub-county of Nakuru county after alerted by his neighbours and a battery of security officers who arrived after alerted and a 21 year old girl escaping death after beaten by locals following the 4am incident,Deputy OCS inspector David Kiprotich said the gang of 3 youths including the 21 year old girl Mercy Cherono who is fighting for her life at Olenguruone sub-county hospital broke into his official residence while he was away at his Bomet county rural home on saturday early morning at 3am and stole amongst others a tv set,gas cooker and hoover
“I had taken a five day off to my rural home in Bomet county before i was alerted at yesterday(satyrday) at 7am that a thief had been arrested hiding in a toilet at my residence after the door of my house was broken into”,said inspector Kiprotich
The gang of two other male youths according to Mercy Cherono who said the duo escaped at 4am towards Molo town had deceived her also broke also into a neighbours hours and stole Ksh 10,000 and stole other valuables
“Security officers in olenguruone have launched manhunt on the two suspects who escaped with the police uniforms amongst other items and patrols in Olenguruone centre was intensified to eradicate risen cases of house breakages”,said a disturbed OCS Kiprotich
Mercy cherono who says hails from Taita village while speaking from her hospital bed where she sustained severe injuries all over her body following beating by the mob said she was deceived by the two male youths whom she said hail from Sinendet village near olenguruone town and was asked to hide in a toilet as the duo escaped with the stolen items but would not say why she was left behind after the incident
Locals including Joseph Kiplagat said the security officers had turned deaf ears to risen cases of thuggery and OCS Kiprotich becomes the second security officer to have his house broken into in a span of three months
Locals says there have been a series of thefts in olenguruone police town and the theft of Deputy Officer commanding police station including another security officer last month become latest victims whose houses have been broken and property stolen and feared for their security if the thugs would attempt to break into residence belonging to a police officer their lives were at risk.
