The fate of five jubilee party nominated Senators is now in the hands of the party’s disciplinary committee.
The Muchai Lumatete led committee began sitting yesterday where the nominate Senators were taken to task to show cause why they should not be expelled from the party for going against party rules.
On Tuesday Senators Falhada Iman, Naomi Waqo and Mary Seneta appeared before the party’s disciplinary committee sitting which was held ta the jubilee party headquarters.
Senators Millicent Omanga and Victor Perengei are expected to appear before the committee on Wednesday before the team retreats to write its final decision.
The party is accusing the five Senators of gross insubordination after they failed to attend a parliamentary group meeting at State House last week
But appearing before the committee on Tuesday the three Senators pledged loyalty to the party and its leader Uhuru Kenyatta.
However Senator Mary Seneta appeared to be off the hook after Senate majority whip Irungu Kang’ata pleaded with the committee to pardon her after she availed a letter showing that she was sick on the day of the meeting.
Senator Kangata is the prosecutor in the sittings.
It is widely expected that three out of the five Senators will be expelled from the party, thereby effectively losing their seats and nominated senators.
