Team from Ogiek’s OPDP join in exchange learning visit in Muranga on agroecology policies

A team from Ogiek Peoples Development Program (OPDP) was among individuals who this week, had the privilege of participating in an exchange learning visit with a team from Nakuru County to Murang’a County.

The aim of the visit is towards learning on  developing and implementing Agroecology policies that are transforming local food systems.

The learning journey included: Insights on policy development and implementation, Field visits to inspiring agroecology farmers, Exploration of agroecology input markets, Visits to Slow Food demonstration farms promoting sustainable practices.

OPDP lauded Muranga County for sharing We are grateful to Murang’a County for sharing their experiences and paving the way for resilient, sustainable and inclusive food systems.

It should be noted that Ogiek Peoples Development Program under the leadership of Director Daniel Kobei, has been in the forefront in advocating for agroecology.

As hunters and gatherers, the Ogiek Peoples have continued to promote environmental conservation.
