Teachers and parents within the Rift Valley region have been warned against conducting private tuition for pupils who are at home following the closure of schools by the government.
Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya said that some teachers and parents have been secretly conducting private tuition for their children in schools and at home.
He noted that the main aim of the schools closure by the government was to minimize the congregation of people adding that private tuition amounts to a gathering.
Speaking in his office ,Natembeya said that security officers will be on the look out for schools,homes,parents and teachers engaging in private tuition with the aim of nabbing them.
“As the security team, we want to warn those teachers and schools engaging in private tuition and tell them that it is illegal and it should stop,”he said.
He called on parents to allow their children to stay at home and await for further directions form the government.
President Uhuru Kenyatta last week announced closure of all learning institutions in the country amid the outbreak of the corona virus .
According to the order, all learning institutions must be closed by Friday this week.
President Kenyatta was not open on how long the learning institutions will remain closed.
The government has already announced the roll out of digital learning where pupils will be taken through lessons via radio programmes to be broadcast on national radio.
