Drama was witnessed at Nakuru’s Ziwani Matatu terminus on Saturday afternoon as operators engaged a group of phone snatchers.
The drama started after the group that allegedly surfaced from neighbouring Bondeni Estate made away with three phones belonging to passengers.
Drivers and touts tried to do a follow-up but the group from Bondeni retaliated to defend their own who had made away with the phones.
The badly engagement saw several vehicles damaged as the youths pelted stones at the operators.
A.ssction of drivers and touts who spoke to this writer say passengers are now a worried lot due to insecurity at the terminus.
They called on the county government of Nakuru and the police to arrest the matter.
By the time of publishing this article,police officers had arrived at the terminus to cool down situation.
In May, a similar incident happened where a gang surfaced from Bondeni Estate and took control of the Ziwani bus terminus vandalizing matatus on claims that their space had been encroached.
It should be noted that Matatu operators were relocated to Ziwani grounds which lies between the town and Bondeni slum in April.
The county government of Nakuru stated that the move was aimed at decongesting town amid COVID-19 pandemic.
But as it stands now,the Ziwani terminus is turning into a crime scene.
