Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has called on Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to stop interfering with Union’s affairs.

Speaking in Nakuru on Sunday during a meeting with KNUT members from different regions,Sossion noted that TSC was trying to paralyze the functionality of the Union by scraping off members.
According to Sossion,a democratic government should not interfere with unions whatsoever.
He also called on TSC to stop interfering with the ongoing KNUT elections adding that he is ready to lead teachers.
“TSC cannot put us at war with goverment.Let them stop interfering with Union including who should be leading the Union” said Sossion.
KNUT has also called on TSC to return the 2019 teachers register to enable the Union run teachers affairs.
Sossion said the continued inteference with Union has seen ongoing branch elections done with no money.
He was however quick to note that that will no deter the Union from its operations.
“We have continued with branch elections without money and we shall go on up to the national level and ensure credible elections” said Sossion.

Parents and the entire family of Bridge International Academies have on Thursday condemned the criticism levied against them by Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion that the International school with numerous branches is not committed to improving the education standards in the country.

Addressing media on Thursday at one of the schools’ branches in Maili Sita Bahati Nakuru, The Association of Parents from 47 counties led by their National chair Phillip Origi called on Sossion to withdraw the statements he made against the school terming the statements mere propaganda.
“As Bridge school fraternity we want to state here that we adhere to the law but there are some cartels who are not happy and are out to mess our centres.We are appealing to sossion to withdraw the statement he made against our schools” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Hadija Abduba –Bridge Parents Association chair from Marsabit County who said the schools have been on the move to ensure quality education by ensuring that the curriculum 8.4.4 system is followed to the latter.
She condemned the allegations that Bridge schools were going against the curriculum adding that the subjects done in the schools are as per the Kenyan Curriculum including Swahili as a subject.
“Our teachers are TSC confirmed and the subjects we offer here are up to the standard required and nothing more. We are here to ensure quality contrary to what Sossion stated in the press” she said.
On her part, Celestine Tabu from Busia County called on Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion to withdraw the statement on the basis that they were propaganda and meant to make the parents of Bridge school suffer.
She however commended Education CS Dr.Fred Matiang’I for the good performance in the Education sector and once again appealed to the CS to come in and help the school from the propaganda and criticism levied against it.
“Sossion should withdraw the statements he made against the school since it was a big blow to the parents. I however would like to thank the Education CS Dr.Fred Matiang’I for the good work and appeal to him to come in and save us from the propaganda and criticism” she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by Emmanuel Gichatha a representative of parent from Meru who said the school has played a big role in creating jobs for the P1 teachers in the country.
Bridge International academies since establishment have been complimenting government’s efforts in ensuring quality education.
