MP aspirant SK Murage

A Nakuru politician now wants debate surrounding the Building Bridges Initiative put on halt so that leaders can focus on the fight against COVID-19.

Addressing the media in Nakuru Town on Saturday morning Samuel Kimani Murage said the ongoing debate is uncalled for during this time when the COVID-19 has continued to parayl;ize the economy and livelihoods.

Murage who has declared interest for the Bahati Parliamentary seat in 2022, says leaders should now focus on the pandemic and how to save the people from the pandemic.

He says the elected leaders should first focus on the health of the people as well as the economy which has really been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have seen the numbers are going up and therefore for me I will not advocate for the debate on BBI to continue.I think we should shelve the BBI and focus on saving the electorates for you cannot be voted in 2022 by dead persons” said Murage.

Kenya has so far recorded 1, 349 fatalities with the number of infections standing at 75, 193 as at November 20.

Murage’s sentiments come just days after the suspension of official signature drive by the handshake principals through their joint secretaries Dennis Waweru and Junet Mohamed.

This even as Deputy President William Ruto and the Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga left the country on separate foreign trips.

The DP is on a four-day private business-cum-family trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) while Odinga is in DRC for an infrastructure conference on the inter-link projects.

SK Murage launches fumigation exercise to complement government’s effort in fight against COVID-19

Nakuru politician Samuel Kimani Murage has launched a fumigation exercise to complement the government’s effort in the fight against COVID-19.

The fumigation exercise will be carried out in various parts of Bahati Sub County starting with Kiamaina trading centre.

They will also visit schools, Hospitals, police stations among other public places for the same exercise.

“We are launching this fumigation exercise for Bahati people for we believe it is time for all of us to play a role in the fight against COVID-19.It is not what the government should do for you but what you can do as an individual” said Murage.

Murage who has declared interest for the Bahati Parliamentary seat come 2022, also calling on residents to continue adhering to the COVID-19 containment measures such as hand washing, sanitizing, wearing of masks and keeping social distance.

He added that locals should now take personal responsibility in the fight against COVID-19 with infections now at community level.

“We want to appeal to our people to continue observing the COVID-19 containment measures” he said.

Similar sentiments echoed by Stephen Mwangi-a youth from Bahati constituency.

While noting that schools had resumed partially for candidates and grade 4, Mwangi stated that everyone in society should play their part in the fight against COVID-19.

“We have our brothers and sisters in schools and that is why as Team SK Murage we want to play our part in the fight against spread of COVID-19 through this exercise” said Mwangi.

Grace Wangui- a resident of Bahati lauding Murage for the gesture that will see area youths take part in the fumigation exercise.

According to Wangui, this will go a long way in boosting the efforts towards the fight on COVID-19 in the area.

“We are very grateful for this exercise that has been launched for Bahati. This is a clear communication that COVID-19 is real and we all have to take responsibility” said Ms Wangui.
