PWDs urged to fully participate in electoral process

People living with disabilities across the country have been challenged to actively participate in the electoral processes particularly political parties activities  to ensure that their space in elections and nominations is realised.

Speaking in Nakuru during a meeting convened by Office of the  Registrar of Political parties to sensitize Journalists on matters political parties , IPOA Board member and former head of legal department at IEBC Praxedes Tororey said that the challenges of the PLWDS absence in politics has affected the way politics enshrined in the constitution can be achieved.
“We have not seen much presence of the PLWDs in political space actively in elective or management levels and as such when it comes to nominations, parties are at cross roads”, she said.
She further called on the IEBC to deploy equipment that will enable people with such challenges to participate in the elections.
It should be noted that ORPP is conducting several sensitization meetings in Nakuru.
Apart from Journalists, the office of Registrar of Political parties is meeting Bodaboda operators,Youth, Women,PWDs and Civil Society organizations.
The climax of the sensitization meetings will be a peace caravan from Nakuru,Bomet,Kericho and finally Narok.
