Police officers in Nakuru have been mobilized to ensure full compliance of government directives issued in a move to curtail the spread of the corona virus which has wrecked havoc across the globe.
Their is a huge presence of police officers in Nakuru town central business district and along major roads leading into and out of Nakuru.
Along major roads, police officers are enforcing the directive of having only 8 passengers in every 14 seater matatu with those found violating the directive being arrested.
The heavy presence of officers along the roads has however forced matatu operators to comply with the directive.
Within the central business district police officers have been deployed to keep an eye and disburse any social gatherings.
There are those also checking on restaurants within the CBD to ensure that they only operate on a take -away basis as directed yesterday by health CS Mutahi Kagwe.
Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu said that the operations and patrols will continue day and night until the situation is put under control.
A spot check around Nakuru town, revealed that some businesses have started closing down with people opting to stay at home.
Those traders operating have decried depressed sales resulting from low spending by people.
