The County Government of Nakuru is in the processing of setting up an economic recovery team to steer the devolved units’ economic recovery post-COVID -19
Governor Lee Kinyanjui said that the team will be tasked with the responsibility of analyzing the economic effects of COVID-19 and advising the county on how to mitigate the same.
Addressing the media in Nakuru,Kinyanjui said that the team will look into every sector within the county and report on the extent of the COVID-19 impact.
The team is also expected to recommend measures the county can put in place to cushion and shield businesses that have been adversely hit by the effects of COVID-19.
He noted that the team will also focus on the process of re-orienting local businesses and manufacturers to take advantage of the export market which has been hard hit by travel restrictions imposed by countries as a result of COVID-19.
The team is expected to be unveiled once the terms of reference to guide its operations are put in place.
Nakuru county is expected to lose a huge chunk of its revenue owing to the closure of most businesses as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The SME and the hospitality sectors are among those that have suffered huge loses in the county
