Higher Learning Institutions have been urged to focus more on quality education delivery which incorporates innovation through technology.
Addressing media in Nakuru during the official opening of Mount Kenya University Great Rift Valley Plaza Nakuru campus, Vice Chancellor Prof.Stanley Waudo said a time has come for the academic Institutions to focus more on innovation through technology.
The Vice Chancellor added that student centered education was paramount in shaping wholly the students to face challenges in the world of Technology.
“This is a great day as we officially commission this Great Rift Valley Plaza of Mount Kenya University but we are also having a public lecture on how to ensure quality education in this era of technology. I must appeal to all Higher learning Institution t really focus on delivering quality innovative education” he said.
While lauding the Government for the E- learning program through supply of laptops to the standard one pupil, the Mount Kenya University Vice Chancellor said that was a noble course in ensuring student centered education or learning.
According to him if Technology is embraced to the latter then there shall be production of more innovative minds in the country.
“I must laud the National Government for embracing E-learning. Technology is not like a lecturer who will come in class teach and go, it is there always and students can refer at any time” he said.
The Great Rift Valley Plaza of Mount Kenya University has a capacity of accommodating 4500 students and also an avenue for Business for small ventures as a way of giving back to the society.
