Opposition leader Raila Odinga has extended well wishes to all healthcare workers in the country as Kenya joins the world to celebrate this years’ Labour day.
In a message,Odinga said that healthcare workers have risked their own lives and that of their families for the sake of the country.
“This Labour Day, we celebrate you, our health workers for risking your lives to save us from COVID-19. We are alive because you are fighting for us. You have been equal to the task, proving the world wrong” he said.
He said that every Kenyan needs to celebrate healthcare workers by supporting them in the fight against COVID-19 by seriously putting into practice what the government tells them to do.
Mr Odinga, added that the country needs to celebrate workers who are rarely recognized saying that their work makes life complete
“We also celebrate everyone’s Labour; farmers, delivery guys, garbage collectors, name it. We have reason to agree all labourers are essential and deserve dignity and respect. Happy Labour Day Kenya and Africa,” he said.
Kenya joins the world in marking the labour day which is a global event celebrated on the 1st May every year .
The national low key event is expected to be held at the COTU headquarters in NAIROBI
