Food and non-food aid donations to victims of Lake Naivasha flooding at Lake View Ward will only be channelled to the most deserving.
Some 1,700 families from Kihoto and Pipeline areas have also been listed to benefit from Sh2 million rent kitty by the County Government of Nakuru.
While on a tour of the affected areas last week, Governor Lee Kinyanjui said families should move to safer areas and the County Government of Nakuru would settle their rent.
“We will also continue availing food for the affected families until normalcy is restored,” the Governor promised.
The Governor added that the County Government of Nakuru would vet and engage local youth to provide security at a stipend alongside the police to prevent vandalism of affected houses.
Disaster Management CO Ms Ann Njenga said the County Government of Nakuru is working alongside the provincial administration, landlords and local leaders for transparency.
While distributing donations to affected families earlier today, the CO called on corporates and well-wishers to complement the County Government of Nakuru efforts in cushioning the victims.
The County Government of Nakuru has partnered with the Kenya Red Cross in assessing disasters, mobilization and distribution of items and funds to cushion vulnerable communities.
