Justice closer to people as CJ Koome opens Court of Appeal in Nakuru

Nakuru residents with appeal cases will no longer travel long distances in search of justice following the opening of Nakuru Court of Appeal by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Speaking at Nakuru Law Courts grounds during the event on Friday, Koome reiterated the commitment of Judiciary to dispense mandate.

She added that all the reforms in the Judiciary are aimed at ensuring timely justice.

“As we gather here today to open this Court of Appeal, is clear that we are working towards improving our justice system and ensuring justice closer to the people” said Koome.

The CJ also called on Judiciary officers to continue upholding the independence of the Judiciary.

Similar sentiments echoed by Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika who also graced the event notes that the opening of the Nakuru Court of Appeal as the fourth branch outside Nairobi will ensure that justice is more accessible and appeal cases expedited.

She welcomed Lady  Justice Fatuma Sichale an her team who will be Presiding over the Nakuru Court of Appeal.

“I take this opportunity to thank the Honourable Chief Justice Lady Justice Martha Koome for seeing to fruition this great milestone, and also opening many other courts in Nakuru. As they say, justice delayed is justice denied and these new courts will ensure that justice will be served in a timely manner.I also take this opportunity to welcome Lady Justice Fatuma Sichale and her team to Nakuru as they take on the mantle of presiding over the new Court of Appeal. We shall continue collaboration with the judiciary to ensure justice gets closer to the people” she said.
