No working from home for Nakuru County staff, says Governor

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has said that he is not sending County staff home due to the Corona virus outbreak in the country.

Kinyanjui said that the county government is running short of its revenue target and therefore it will be worsening things if he allowed county staff to stay at home.

Addressing journalists on the county corona preparedness, Kinyanjui said that all county staff will continue reporting to their work stations until such a time when the situation will warrant sending them home.

On the issue of closing down social entertainment spots, the Governor said that currently the county has not reported any positive case of corona virus and therefore he sees no need shutting down such places.

He reiterated that the County government of Nakuru is and continues to prepare to handle any  emergency should it arise.

The Governor singled out the continued training of county medical teams, journalists, hoteliers, Red Cross staff and members of the transport sector as some of the measures the county was putting in place to deal with the spread of the corona virus.

According to the Governor, the county has also procured face masks and other protective gear needed by the medical team when handing suspected cases

At the same time he called on volunteers willing to join the county medical team in preparedness to deal with corona virus to avail themselves for training.
