MCA Kajwang’ calls for proper law on ward bursary allocation formula

There is a need for a proper act that will ensure Ward bursary allocations are done as per the population of ward.

Kaptembwa Ward MCA Peter Kajwang says as it stands now, the formula being used where all wards receive the same amount is a disadvantage to other wards that have huge population.

He was speaking at Nakuru West Secondary on Saturday during a graduation ceremony for over 20 youths who were sponsored by ward bursary kitty to train in various courses from Germaine Training Institute.

Kajwang’ calling on fellow MCAs at the County assembly of Nakuru to work and ensure such legislation was in place.

“If we can come up with a good law so that bursary can be distributed using the population formula it will be a major boost to development” he said.

According to the MCA, matters education should be taken seriously by all elected leaders as it is key in transforming society.

He challenged the graduates to ensure they implement whatever skills they have acquired through the training.

“This is an opportunity and it is now your time to implement in the world and make it better|” said Kajwang’.

Nakuru West ODM politician Hezron Okiki lauding the MCA for giving priority to matters of education.

 While stating that bursary should ensure progressive training, Okiki also challenged parents to be close and encourage their children.

“The bursary should ensure our students and youths progress; it should not be a one time.Leaders should focus on empowering the Community.

The ceremony was also attended by GTI director Alex Kubasu as well as registrar Patrice Niyirora among other guests.

MP Kathambi lashes out at Ministry over ‘laxity’ in registration of schools

Njoro MP Charity Kathambi has lashed out at the Ministry of education over what she termed laxity in registration of more schools in Njoro Sub County.

While lauding the government policy of 100 percent transition from Primary to secondary, the vocal Nakuru Legislator was categorical that Njoro needs more secondary schools to make the policy successful.

The MP was speaking at Njoro Park on Thursday during the launch and issuance of Njoro NG-CDF bursary cheques worth Kshs.44 Million where she vowed to ensure matters education are given priority in the area.

According to Kathambi, she took over the leadership mantle of Njoro Constituency when it was in pathetic state but she has committed to ensure transformation through education.

“We want to ensure all children go to school but we are ashamed by the Ministry of education because it has delayed in registration of schools in this area. But we are going to push them so that even as we talk of 100 percent transition we have schools in place” said Kathambi.

The MP while vowing to ensure that all orphaned and needy students are given priority in the issuance of the bursary, called on parents and teachers in Njoro sub county to support education terming it key in transforming the society.

She lauded local administrators among them Chiefs for ensuring that all needy students in the area are identified through the sharing of information with the Njoro NG-CDF information desk.

“I must commend the chiefs for the good working relation with the information NG-CDF information desk to identify the needy students and I promise to ensure that there is transparency in how the public funds are used in this area” she said.

The MP also revealing that a Technical Training Institute will be constructed and equipped at Njoro Ward to tune of Kshs.100 million.

She says this is online with the Jubilee administration policy of empowering youths through technical courses training.

“We are constructing and equipping a TTI at Njoro Ward to a tune of Kshs.100 million so that all our children who do not make it to colleges and Universities can still receive training in technical courses” said Kathambi.

The bursary launch function was also attended by Njoro Deputy County Commissioner Mbugua who sounded stern warning to parents who fail to take their children to school.

According to the CS, the government policies are clear and should be adhered to.

The administrator also taking issues with as section of residents whom he said are still in the business of illicit brew.
The DCC also warning those operating illegal gambling machines.

“I was not posted in Njoro to eat mandazi.I was not brought here on honeymoon. I must work to ensure the illicit brew business comes to an end” said Mbugua.

Others who addressed included the Nakuru Jubilee Party Secretary General Mtumishi Cheruiyot, Rift Valley Institute of Business Studies Director John Gitau and former Njoro Parliamentary aspirant Kinyanjui Mwamba.

Hundreds of parents camp at MP’s office over bursary forms

Hundreds of parents spent the better part of Monday at Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama’s office trying to sort out issues pertaining their bursary forms.

This is after it merged that their bursary fees application forms for their children had been rejected.The MP in a statement to press stated that the forms had been rejected after parents failed to attach necessary documents while applying for the NG-CDF bursary.

He however assured parents that the matter will be sorted out through his NG-CDF office.

“There were some parents who did not attach all the required documents and that’s what we are sorting out” said Arama.

According to the MP, each student joining a government boarding school would receive between Sh25, 000 and Sh38, 0000 for the first term, depending on the school’s fees.
