Susan Kihika is the Second Nakuru County Senator. Before her election, Kihika was the pioneer speaker of the County Assembly of Nakuru. As the speaker, Susan Kihika was instrumental in setting in place laws that today govern Nakuru County. She was also the vice-chair of the County Assemblies Forum (CAF).
The Senator, who was elected in the Jubilee party, is the Majority Chief Whip at the Senate. She is also the President of the IPU Bureau of women parliamentarians.
In 2017, after the formation of the Jubilee Party, she was named the Central Rift Presidential campaigns coordinator.
Come August 2017, Senator Kihika overcame stiff opposition from seasoned politicians to win the Nakuru Senatorial race. It was a difficult campaign for her facing the likes of Njenga Mungai, Koigi wa Wamwere and the late Karanja Kabage among others.
As a people representative, Senator Kihika has never shied away from speaking her mind, pushing for justice and ensuring that the people she represents gets justice. A case in point is her spirited campaign for justice for the Solai Dam tragedy victims.
Susan Kihika attended Busara Forest View Academy for her primary school and Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls’ High School in Nyeri for her Secondary education.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Texas, and a Juris Doctor degree from the Law School of Southern Methodist University. She was later admitted to the Texas bar before founding the Kihika Law firm in the US.
