The Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika has promised to sponsor three youths from her home area in Engashura to an alcohol rehabilitation Centre.
Speaker susan Kihika made the remarks at a prayer meeting held at her family home Engashura. The prayer meeting which was attended by over 4,000 Nakuru residents also attracted high level politicians from across the county. The leaders included 8 sitting MPs, 2 nominated Senators, the women Representative Mary Mbugua and some officials from the Nakuru County Jubilee party led by chairman David Manyara.
“I understand that we have a problem with alcohol addiction in this area. I would love to help in rehabilitation of a few of these. Am requesting the residents to forward to me two ladies and one gentleman who suffering from alcoholism and I will sponsor them for rehabilitation,” said Susan Kihika as residents wildly cheered her.
Kihika said this when welcoming Hon. John Mututho, one of the leading gubernatorial aspirants to the prayer meeting. The prayers which were led by a host of pastors and Bishops were held on behalf of Ms. Kihika to dedicate her to the Lord as she intensifies her senatorial bid.
The three addicts will be admitted at the John Mututho Empowerment Centre (JOMEC) which is ran by Mututho. The full cost for the rehabilitation will be paid by Susan Kihika. She revealed she had attended a graduation of former addicts at the Centre in the past and was impressed by the work Mututho was doing.
In his remarks, Mututho reaffirmed his support for Speaker Susan Kihika saying he was confident she could make it to the Senate and was the most suited and qualified aspirant.
The prayer meeting was also attended by almost all the MCAs in Nakuru County assembly and many parliamentary and ward aspirants from across the county. Also in attendance was Ms. Gladys Kamuren who is vying for the Women Rep seat. The Deputy Governor also made appearance though he arrived late.
