SabaSaba Day turns chaotic as angry youth engage police in running battle

SabaSaba Day turned chaotic in Nakuru as angry youth engaged police in running battle.

Mobilized themselves in various points such as Barnabas centre, Free Area, on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway, the youth barricaded road with stones and lit fires disrupting traffic for over 5 hours.

With placards, the charges youth majority of whom GenZs could be heard chanting ‘Ruto must go’ slogans.

Police had difficult time positioning themselves to control the charge crowd of young people.

At Free Area the hundreds of youth at one particular time deflated a police land cruiser.

Another  situation that charged the young people was the arrival of 3 Subaru from DCI.

The youth seemed not happy with the recent abductions involving the Subaru vehicles, hence demanded that they leave.

Police obliged and escorted the vehicles back to Nakuru Town.

Famous Nakuru.co.ke has learnt that the youth-led protests in Nakuru paralysed what was to be SabaSaba protests where the civil society groups would hold procession and conclude at Nyayo gardens for speeches and press address.

One member of civil society in Nakuru admitted that they were not going to have SabaSaba protests in Nakuru as GenZs were now in charge.
